Computer application software has come a long way from the floppy disks we used to use, in which case you had to instruct the program to run the install and it had been impossible to get rid of it once you had it loaded. In view of the new technology we now have, computer software may be installed and uninstalled with effortlessly. All you need to do is have the CD or access to the program application you intend to download. There are three main ways to install software programs.
First, if you have the CD you just load it into the CD drive and let the pc auto load the program. In most cases, your computer would have an install wizard pop up and ask you questions about the install. The second way you may have to install the program is by going to the Start Menu. On the Start Menu, you will click on the run option then type in the location of the program otherwise click browse. Browse will usually help you find the CD location and open the program. You'll need to locate the setup.exe file, open it and get started on the download. The third option for installing computer software program isn't having the disc. A number of companies will allow you to buy the computer software directly over the Internet. These downloads will permit you to click on the download button, click run, and also have the program go through the installation wizard all without a disc. This is one of the easiest ways to get the computer software you may want downloaded.
When you are looking at uninstalling software programs, you will also have a number of options. There are programs that promise to remove software by downloading it. Meaning you may get rid of programs which you never wanted on your PC such as AOL and other items computers come with when they are purchased. This is the final option you may wish to go through. It will actually take all information off the hard drive. The simplest way to remove computer applications from the computer is using the program in your control panel. Go to the Start Menu, choose settings and click on the control panel. Inside the control panel, you can find an option for removing or adding programs.
If you open up the option you will just have to click on the item you want uninstalled and click on remove. The process usually asks you to close the program and ask if you would like a complete un- installation of the computer software. The process might take several minutes or a few seconds depending on the file size. The final option for uninstalling computer software is using the actual installation disc. You will discover that almost all programs have a built in uninstall program to help you get rid of the entire program from the PC.
You may need to uninstall programs if ever the installation process was not successful or if you have a new version of your PC software program, you are trying to remove. Some programs won't write over existing files with an update rather they'll download the whole program all over again so that you have the older version and also the newer version tying up your hard disk space. Programs that you don't want and that come with your computer could be removed via the “add or remove programs” in the control panel. Be very cautious with the programs you're removing.
Be sure you know what the program is and that it is not fundamental to the running of the computer. When you remove something your computer needs to run unintentionally you could crash your entire hard drive. If you have problem with an installation, it may be the disc you are using is conflicting with your other software program or could have been damaged. If the software program you have purchased won't work, make sure to return it to the store and request an exchange and ensure that the program is compatible with your system.
