Asynchronous Transmission

Asynchronous transmission – is also known as the start-stop transmission. This method of transmission involves the use of a start and stop bit to signify the beginning of a data transmission and the end of the data transmission respectively. Data sent by this method are sent at irregular intervals. See also asynchronous communication.
